A month or so back, I had someone tell me that if the miniature bulbs that we install in our E30s don't have the "football" or "cat's-eye" shaped contacts, those bulbs will throw a code at the Active Check panel. Can anyone confirm this?

It all came about because our '87s's Brake Light Warning lamp on the Active Check illuminates, even though all three brake lamps work just fine.
