My 3.73 open diff has a fair bit of backlash, I'm wondering if I could replace the centre with an LSD centre. Can you folks help with some questions please?
1) Can I replace just diff centre with an LSD centre or do I have to replace the whole open diff?
2) I've heard that the diff centre doesn't affect the drive ratio (ie I could put the centre out of a 4.27 LSD in mine and still have the 3.73 ratio). Is this true?
3) Would replacing the centre fix the backlash or is there another part which can possibly be causing it?
4) What special tools will I need to do the job (eg presses? pullers? heating bearings?)
