Here is the good news!! Little Beemie passed California State Emissions testing last week. It is a major hurdle in every old car's life.

I guess the extra-large catalytic converter installed 2 yrs ago is still functioning. My mechanic told me to warm the car fully before visiting the testing center. I arrived at the center around 5pm, and they close at 6pm. Naturally the techs want to wrap up their day quickly. They did not let Beemie cool down very much - the test requires about 25 minutes.
