Ok this is a two part question...
1> I have a 87 with a manual sunroof, what holds the crank handle in place, is it an eclip or something like that.

2> has anyone seen when closing the sunroof the wind deflector does not quite go down far enough (another 1/32 of an inch it would be in the roof groove). Is this adjustable??

Here's a link to the adjustment part of your question:

As for the handle, if there isn't a phillips screw dead center with the handle in operate position, perhaps a black plastic piece that pops out revealing the screw? (sorry, mine's an electric sunroof).

Here's a pic:

The crank handle is a unit so to speak that is attached to a plastic piece that is screwed in place with two screws. There is a spring that puts pressure on the handle to keep it locked open or closed. If the handle is not staying in place then it is probably due to the metal fatiguing and not being able to handle the springs tension any more. New handle would fix that problem!

The other problem would be fixed by adjusting the sunroof properly as Alan has already pointed out.
